Lou Brown, Jr.After graduating from the Johns Hopkins University with a BSEE degree in 1966, Mr. Brown started his engineering career with Hewlett Packard. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Brown and a few colleagues formed IDEAS, Inc. Mr. Brown was the founding President/CEO of IDEAS, Inc.
 
Mr. Brown is one of Washington’s most successful high-tech entrepreneurs. Over the past 38+ years, Mr. Brown led a family of high-tech companies whose success is measured in double-digit growth.  The technologies span telecommunications and fiber optic systems; leading-edge information technologies for hospitality information and retail systems; electronic point-of-sale; network management; media asset management; clean alternative energy and other technology-enablers for the 21st century.  All together, these companies employ over 5,000 people worldwide with combined corporate sales exceeding $1 Billion.

 Since its founding in 1970,  Mr. Brown has led IDEAS in the incubation, growth and development of numerous companies:

  • MICROS Systems, Inc./Columbia, MD/ www.micros.com  (NASDAQ: MCRS) – Micros Systems, a worldwide leader in hospitality management system for hotels, restaurants and retail  stores, was founded in 1977 and had its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 1981.  MICROS Systems has been recognized by FORBES Magazine as one of the Top 200 Small and Medium Sized Corporations nine times over the past twelve years.
  • Autometric, Inc. was acquired by IDEAS in 1977 from Raytheon Corporation as a 23-person, $1 million/year revenue entity; grown to over 600 professionals with annual sales in excess of $100 million; and sold to the Boeing Corporation in 2000.  The focus of Autometric is visual computing software, remote sensor image processing, and modeling and simulation systems.
  • Strata Group/St. Louis, MO/ www.strata-group.com – Strata Group is a leading provider of telecommunications management software/OSS to ILEC’s, CLEC’s, and independent Telecommunications Service Providers. Strata Group was sold to Ariston Global in 2006.
Current IDEAS subsidiary/affiliate corporations include;
  • FiberGate/Alexandria, VA/ www.fibergate.net – FiberGate is a regulated utility which is focused on providing dedicated (“dark”) fiber optic bandwidth and services to a variety of commercial and government customers.

Mr. Brown joined Precision Auto Care, Inc./Leesburg, VA/ www.precisiontune.com  – (NASDAQ: PACI) in August, 2000 as President/CEO as part of a corporate re-capitalization plan.  Mr. Brown has been Chairman since October 2003.  Mr. Brown’s initial objectives were to refocus Precision Auto Care, Inc. on the core auto care operations and to divest non-core assets.  That phase was completed by the end of FY03 (June 2003).  Precision Auto Care, Inc. has approximately 300 locations in North America and over 100 locations internationally. The current objectives include both improving the business model and profitability at each franchise location, as well as growing the Precision Tune Auto Care system, both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Brown joined the Board of Directors of EMBusiness Holdings, Inc./Arlington, VA/in March, 2007. EMBusiness Holdings is a holding company for EMSolutions, Inc. www.emsolutionsinc.com and Template Software www.Template.com. Together, EMSolutions and Template Software are software solutions and service providers to both Federal Government and Commercial clients.

Mr. Brown along with Dr. Boris Maslov formed Clean Fuels Management www.c-fuels.com and EnergyOne www.EnergyOne.com. EnergyOne is focused on design, development, and production of clean alternative energy facilities, and providing consulting services in all of these areas.
