Energy One Europe is continuing with its restructuring projects around Contigo, EGSSIS and eZ-nergy Simon Wheeler, CEO, told me recently. It is consolidating support into one area and recruiting at the same time for positions like business analysts, sales staff and more. So far this year, it has closed more than 30 new deals across its business lines. “Contigo is steady with a nice stream of work but the eZ-energy and EGSSIS side is really active,” he told me. Simon thinks there may be one or two more before calendar year end and sees a strong pipeline into the new year. “We are also now starting to see real interest from the Iberian markets as well,” said.

Meanwhile, Energy One is also running a globalisation project internally as it builds a follow the sun business. Some staff have relocated to the Adelaide office where it is growing its operations team via recruitment and secondment. It has also added a new head of operations to help run this piece of the business. Recruiting takes up a lot of time in the current job market as well as it takes a long time to find the right skill sets.

Simon remains excited about business and opportunities generally seeing an active market, potential for good growth in the operations side, new opportunities emerging on the battery and battery optimisation side via the work being done on the enFlow software (link to podcast) and a strong set of experience around weather derivatives to leverage in Australia. A recent webinar held to promote its weather derivatives capabilities outside of Australia was well attended according to Simon.
